Drone Flight School
Drones are small or medium-sized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). They're unique in that they can drive remotely and autonomously, and they're capable of maintaining a controlled, sustained level of flight. The drone system combines robotics with aeronautics.
Our goal at the Drone Flight School is to re-introduce students to a STEM learning experience using DRONE technology. In this program, students will learn STEM concepts through a problem-based learning experience. Students will be introduced to real world problems and explore the solutions that drone technology provides. They will learn about forestry and timber, mapping and construction, public safety, energy, agriculture, and cinematography. Students will learn how to use drones as tools.

In an increasingly technology-driven world, Kentucky and our nation continue to face a crisis in our student's performance and participation in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), creating a talent shortage. Our programs, events, and outreach activities inspire local youth to pursue STEM careers and provide a pipeline of talent to businesses in southeastern Wisconsin. Our rich history and strong partnerships with STEM employers and educators make us uniquely poised to influence the next generation of critical thinkers and innovators.
All students will be required to take and pass the TRUST test developed by the Federal Aviation Administration. This test covers aeronautical knowledge and safety and is a requirement under the Exception for Limited Recreational Operations of Unmanned Aircraft.
